October 12, 2012 We are finished with our dystopian unit and moving forward to persuasion and argument. Students need to choose their banned book by Monday, October 15th, and finish reading the book by Monday, October 22nd. They will spend Monday-Wednesday next week half of the class (45 minutes) in the media center labs researching why their books have been banned and/or challenged. Students will need to have three sources of information for their project. Their cumulative assignment (100 points) will be to create a book trailer for their novel that either promotes the reading or banning of the book.
As a precursor, we will spend three days discussing plagiarism, fair use, and copyright policies.
